Questions, answered

What to upload, how realistic the panel is, cost and privacy - the things people ask most before their first interview.

Is Interboard affiliated with RICS or IChemE?
No. Interboard is independent practice and preparation software. It is not affiliated with, authorised or endorsed by RICS, IChemE, or any awarding body, and it does not guarantee any assessment outcome. Awarding body names are used only to describe the assessment you are preparing for.
How realistic is the mock panel?
The panel reads your actual submission and asks one question at a time, choosing each next question from your last answer - pressing vague answers, challenging contradictions it found in your documents, and acknowledging strong ones. It follows your body's real interview structure and timing, and you can set the toughness from Gentle to Tough. It is designed to feel like a conversation with a live panel, not a quiz.
I'm preparing for a job interview - what do I upload?
Paste the job description or advert for the role you're targeting, and - if you have them - your CV or background and any questions the employer emailed you ahead of the interview. The panel uses all of it to ask about exactly what this employer is looking for. You don't provide a formal submission or map yourself to competency levels; those steps only apply to the chartered tracks (RICS APC, IChemE CEng). If you have nothing ready yet, Generic Mode still gives you a realistic interview off the track alone.
Which interview types can I practise?
Start with a general competency-based interview, or pick a specific format: a technical / role-specific interview pitched at your field, a situational judgement test, a strengths-based interview, a full assessment centre (group exercises, case studies, presentations and role-plays), a management-consulting case interview, or the chartered viva tracks (RICS APC, IChemE CEng). Each one runs the real structure and timing for that assessment.
How is the case-interview track different?
The management-consulting case interview isn't a competency conversation - the interviewer hands you a business problem and you work it live: structuring the approach, reading exhibits, doing the estimates and maths out loud, and giving a recommendation, with pushback throughout. It's built for strategy and consulting applications rather than a general job interview.
What does the “Early access” badge mean?
It marks a track we've added more recently and are still expanding. The interview and lessons work fully today - the badge is just our honest signal that the question bank and lesson depth are still growing, so you may see more added over the coming weeks. It's not a trial or time-limited in any way.
What does it cost?
There's a free plan with 3 mock interviews a month, the first 3 lessons of the plan and a headline debrief - enough to get a real feel for it. Premium is £24.99 a month for unlimited mock interviews, the complete lesson plan and your full post-interview analysis. You can cancel anytime from Settings; see our pricing page for the full comparison.
What if it doesn't work for me?
Premium is covered by a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first paid month. If it isn't right for you, message us from the contact page within 14 days of your first payment and we'll refund it in full - no forms, no hoops. It's a satisfaction guarantee on the software; like any honest prep tool we can't guarantee a real assessment result. You can also cancel anytime from Settings.
Is my data private?
Your documents, analysis and sessions are stored in your own account, encrypted in transit and at rest, and we never put your submission text or transcripts in our logs or analytics. You can export your data, delete an individual document, or permanently delete everything at any time from Settings. Your submission is processed by a third-party AI provider, which is why we ask for your explicit consent before analysing a real submission. See our Privacy Policy.
Can I use this with confidential client work?
Before analysing a submission we ask you to confirm you're happy for it to be processed by our third-party AI provider - and we recommend redacting client names, exact figures and identifying detail first (placeholders like [Client] and ~£14m work just as well for practice). The provider may use submitted content to improve its models, so don't paste anything you're not comfortable sharing under those terms. See our Privacy Policy for how to redact.
Do I have to use voice?
No. Voice is there so you can practise out loud the way the real interview happens - you hold to speak and the panel speaks back. But every answer can be typed, and the panel can be muted. If your browser doesn't support speech, Interboard automatically falls back to text only.
Which browsers support voice?
Recording and playback work in any modern browser. Voice features use your browser's built-in capabilities, and where something isn't supported the app degrades gracefully to text.
What if I don't have all my documents ready?
You can still use Interboard in Generic Mode, which runs off the awarding body profile alone - you'll get the lesson plan and a realistic interview, just without questions tailored to your specific submission. Add your documents later to unlock the personalised experience.
